In another sign that its biggest shareholder wants more say in the future of Sun Microsystems, the company said Monday that Southeastern Asset Management will name two new directors to Sun's board. At the same time, a top executive at Southeastern issued a statement expressing confidence in Sun's current management and in the Santa Clara tech company's prospects. Sun, which has struggled for profitability in recent quarters, said last month that it would cut as many as 6,000 jobs '” up to 18 percent of its workforce around the world '” and reorganize its software business. 'We fully support Sun's CEO, Jonathan Schwartz, and his leadership team in their efforts,' said Jason Dunn, a vice president and principal at Memphis-based Southeastern.
