Acer and Asus expect surge in netbook shipments in 2009
Fudzilla — ... the 8.9-inch Aspire One. It is expected to launch several models with larger, 10.2 or 11.6-inch screens in 2009. Asus has also had great success with its 10.2-inch Eee PC 1000HA and the more affordable 8.9-inch Eee PC 900HA near the end of 2008. It now expects to ship 7.1 to 7.3 million units in 2009. Asus claims it will keep its Eee PC series netbooks under 10 inches, however, it has recently released the N10, an Atom powered netbook which is not part of the Eee PC series. More here .

DV Hardware — DigiTimes reports netbook sales during the holiday season were really well for Acer and ASUS, giving both companies new confidence for 2009. Having recorded sales of 500,000 Aspire one-series netbooks in the US in December, Acer expects sales to top 12-13 million units in 2009, the sources said. 8.9-inch Aspire one netbooks performed strongly in 2008 and the company expects the model to perform even better in 2009, said Scott Lin, president, Acer Taiwan.
