AMD Cuts Phenom II X4 940 Black Edition

Hexus reports that AMD is cutting the price of the Phenon II X4 940 Black Edition. What also seems clear, but which Buxton couldn't comment on, is that AMD is making room for the Phenom II 955, which hasn't been launched yet but seems to be leaking out anyway.
The 3GHz 940 now seems to be positioned squarely against the newly launched 2.66GHz Intel Q8400 on price, while the 3.2GHz 255 may well be priced at the level of the 2.82GHz Q9550 or the 2.66GHz Core i7-920. You can find pricing on the Phenom II X4 940 BE here.

... of silicone. Unfortunately, while the price has dropped 18 percent in the UK, we're still not seeing a similar drop on the continent, as most retailers are still pricing it at about 185. This is still slightly lower than the 190 to 200 price range we've seen in past weeks, but still far from an 18 percent drop. The upcoming 945 and 955BE models should end up priced about 200 and 220 respectively, but bear in mind that, unlike the 940, the 945 is not a Black Edition CPU. More here .
