Here is a confession: I am getting pretty tired of netbooks running Windows XP. So when we got our Windows 7 Beta disc at PDC earlier this week, I couldn’t wait to get it running on a netbook. This morning we loaded Windows 7 Ultimate (Pre-Beta) on an ASUS Eee PC 1000H. And just as ...

Eee PC 1000H works with Windows 7

... using Skype with two-way video calling. The Windows 7 Beta seems to suck up far less RAM than Windows Vista and it seems like 1GB of RAM is more than enough, which is indeed good news for netbook users. That doesn't mean that you'd want to skimp on your RAM, as once you start running a few applications, we're sure that you'll need more than 1GB. Laptop Magazine is promising to return with some benchmark numbers at a later stage, but you can check out their early impressions here
Lightweight Windows 7 pre-Beta loaded onto Eee PC 1000H with very promising results

... Sure, Windows 7 will run just fine on a thick slab of screaming desktop, but what everyone's really wondering is how it'll perform on laptops, or better yet, down-market netbooks. The very same stage that has put Linux into the grubby hands of the Wal-mart consumer and forced Microsoft to extend the life of XP just to stay in the game. It's all pre-beta stuff for now mind you, but Laptop loaded up its early Windows 7 build onto an Eee PC 1000H (10-inch, 1.6GHz Atom, 1GB RAM) with decent results. For the most part, it ran "pretty well" with Laptop managing ...
ASUS Eee PC runs Windows 7 well

... provided by ASUS.
Unsurprisingly, it takes 58 seconds for the system to boot the OS (see the video below). Of course, it has actually taken a minute for some systems to boot XP as well. However, the Eee PC 1000H boots in only 40 seconds with its default operating system.
Once booted, it was pretty neat to see Windows 7 on the 10-inch screen. As we mentioned in our Windows 7 overview, things pretty much look and feel like Windows Vista.Read more over here. ASUS Eee PC runs Windows 7 well - More news at DV ...
