AMD Issues Far Cry 2 Hotfix for Most ATI Radeon Video Cards

Odd enough, AMD has just issued a hotfix for the yet to be released PC game title Far Cry 2. The patch is meant to be used for the Radeon X1000, HD 2000, HD 3000 and HD 4000 series cards to improve the performance of Far Cry 2 in DirectX 9 and DirectX 10. Both single and CrossFire compatible systems will benefit from it. The hotfix download package includes both the Display Driver and Catalyst Control Center. Image Download it here We didn't have the chance to try it but we learned that as of late Friday, European time, ATI has released a special hot fix driver that can boost the performance of Far Cry 2. The performance should significantly increase on Radeon HD 3870 X2 cards as these Crossfire ones are tricky. The driver is for vista and it improves performance in DirectX 9 version of the game with Crossfire and in DirectX 10 version of the game it improves both single and CrossfFire mode. This one is no brainer, if you want to play this savanna shooter and if you own a Radeon HD 4870 X2 or any other Radeon HD 4xx0 you better get this one here ...

The fix was supposed to improve DirectX 10 graphics performance for Radeon X1600-series and newer cards in the open-world shooter, and AMD said owners of CrossFire setups could also expect improvements in the game's DirectX 9 mode. Today, you'll find a new hotfix at AMD's Customer Care website.
