However, this 11 pound package starts at $3,600, so you'd better be ready to break out the piggy bank come January when this beast is set to ship. Lenovo shows off dual screen notebook

The bad news is that the W700ds weighs in at a whopping 4.99kg of which about 900g is the secondary display. Battery life is only good for about 2h, although Lenovo claims that this can be increased to about 3.5h if you run the displays at half brightness. The Tech Report: News — ... isn't exactly thin or light, with its 17" display, built-in graphics tablet, dual hard drives, and rated weight of 8.3 lbs. Maybe Lenovo thought that wasn't quite tricked-out enough, because it's about to launch a version of the same notebook with a secondary display for on-the-go dual-screen action. According to eWeek, the ThinkPad W700ds (the "ds" stands for "dual screen") will come out at the Consumer Electronics Show in early January.
