Lenovo working on 12in netbook
Fudzilla —
... IdeaPad S20, but as Lenovo isn't following Intel's guidelines for netbooks, it looks like this 12in machine might have the potential of getting some additional features that you wouldn't normally find in a netbook. Digitimes is suggesting that the IdeaPad S20 should retail for about 460 ( 414/$586) which seems quite reasonable considering that the same article states that Lenovo would have to pay extra for the CPUs just because they're not adhering to the Intel guidelines. Unlike the Inspiron Mini 12, which features Silverthorne Atom chips aimed at more compact mobile Internet devices, the IdeaPad S20 will include the latest and greatest 1.66GHz Atom N280the same CPU that's ...
Can Lenovo's Planned 12-inch Notebook Really be Classified as a Netbook?
Maximum PC —
Lenovo is looking to release an Atom N280 based IdeaPad S20 netbook featuring a larger than usual 12-inch screen. This netbook’s screen size would defy Intel’s limitations on netbooks, stating that devices can’t have screens larger than 10-inches if they are to be considered a netbook. Reportedly, this will cause Intel to charge Lenovo an extra $10 per processor. But, Lenovo hopes that the size of their machine will boost their netbook sales by avoiding the fierce 10-inch division altogether. The IdeaPad S20 (with the Atom N280, a GN40 chipset, and Windows XP) is expected to ...
