MSI U115 Hybrid SSD / HDD netbook unleashed upon the world, could be awesome
Engadget — MSI's officially launched the U115 Hybrid netbook we saw not too long ago, which can operate both SSD and HDD drives at the same time. The 10-inch (1024 x 600 resolution) laptop primarily uses the SSD, reserving the HDD for storage, and boasts an "Eco Mode" button which will temporarily disconnect the HDD to save power. The ...

MSI unveils the U115 netbook
Fudzilla — Image With hybrid storage MSI has unveiled its latest netbook, although for some reason it seems like MSI has dropped the Wind branding for the U115 which is otherwise a rather interesting option on the netbook market. MSI claims it' the first hybrid storage netbook and we can't really argue with them about as we haven't heard about anyone putting both an SSD and a hard drive in a netbook before. We have to say that we like MSI's technical terms in the press release, as according to it the U115 has "super long" battery life when set to run in ECO mode. There's no explanation as to how long the battery lasts and maybe MSI wants to keep this as a ...

MSI Intros Wind U115 Hybrid Netbook, with Both SSD and HDD
Tech-Ex — MSI has introduced the Wind U115 Hybrid Netbook (risking, apparently, the wrath of Psion) which uses both solid-state and hard-disk drives, making it the first netbook to do so. The SSD is used for most of the U115's operations, while the HDD is used for storage. The netbook has a "ECO on" mode which "temporarily disengages the hard drive." According to their press release, this results in "super long" battery life, which they quantify as 12 hours on their product page. Aside from the hybrid storage system, it's pretty standard fare for a netbook. No word on pricing or availability ...

MSI Announces First Hybrid Storage Netbook
Maximum PC — MSI has launched it's U1115 Hybrid netbook, which the company bills as the first notebook computer in the world capable of running both SSD and HDD drives at the same time. Combined with its 'ECO on' mode, MSI claims "the battery life of U115 Hybrid is super long." Sounds super duper. The new netbook operates primarily with the SSD to run Windows, with the HDD being used for storage duties. With ECO on mode, the U115 Hybrid temporarily disconnects the HDD to help extend battery life, presumably offering the best of both worlds. Storage options come in 8GB/120GB (SSD/HDD) and 16GB/160GB configurations. Outside of the hybrid drive ...
