Nvidia bashes Intel over USB 3.0 delay
Fudzilla —
... segment, at least if you don't ask anyone at Microsoft or Apple, there is really not much anyone can do to speed up USB 3.0 adoption unless Intel changes its mind. Even if Nvidia was still developing Intel chipsets, we're still not sure it could do much to facilitate more interest for the new standard on its own. What's more, it is still unclear when AMD will adopt USB 3.0 on its platforms, so we'll probably have to wait quite a bit to see USB 3.0 devices on every desk. More here .
Nvidia Blasts Intel Chipsets
AMDZone Frontpage —
Nvidia says in this TG Daily story that its chipsets are better than Intels. They blast the lack of USB 3.0 any time soon. "We [have also] learned that Intel is postponing USB 3 introduction until 2011. With no competition in chipsets, it seems Intel has decided that innovation is not needed for USB any time soon," said Burke. "With no one to push Intel to innovate, PC enthusiasts are left with Intel chipsets and the features and performance they deliver, or lack there of."
NVIDIA confirms Intel chipsets won't support USB 3.0 until 2011
Engadget —
What was once an unverifiable rumor from an anonymous source has now, sadly, become a confirmed fact. Intel won't be integrating USB 3.0 support into its chipsets until at least 2011. Motherboard makers such as ASUS can still opt to add discrete 3.0 controllers at an extra cost, but Intel -- already accused of dragging its heels on the standard's development -- won't be. NVIDIA spokesman Brian Burke has expressed, in no uncertain terms, his company's disappointment with Intel, while also claiming that chipsets by NVIDIA are more ...
Nvidia Confirms Intel's Senseless USB 3.0 Delay Until 2011 [USB]
Gizmodo —
... , but it's technically manufactured by Asus, and it's running a third-party USB (3.0) controller. So we'll see USB 3.0, especially in the custom PC market, before 2011 (because we already are). But like we said, in terms of the standard arriving in mass anytime soon, things are looking grim. [TGDaily via ...
NVIDIA "confirms" USB 3.0 Delay to chipsets
TweakTown News RSS Feed —
... in the next month or so and like the implementation of USB 2.0 (and 1.0a before that) will be the entry for this new specification. It is also important to note that AMD does not have a USB 3.0/ SATA 3.0 chipset implementation yet either. I have been told this is because Intel is blocking it but, I am not so sure I buy into that. After all if the information I have is accurate we should see USB 3.0 from AMD slightly before Intel. If Intel was blocking it then it would be the reverse. NEWS SOURCE
