The Sony Vaio P gets official
Fudzilla —
Image Don't call it a netbook Sony has finally unveiled the Vaio P-series and although there were still some surprises, most of the details had already leaked prior to the launch. This was mostly thanks to Sony itself who put the P-series up on the Sony Style website for a few hours, although only parts of the specifications were revealed at the time. Whatever you do though, don't call it a netbook, as Sony says it's not a netbook. We're not quite sure what the difference is, but we guess it has something to do with the US$899.99 ( 665/ 598) starting price. When you consider that you get a 1.33GHz Atom 520 processor and 2GB of non upgradeable DDR2 memory for this price, then we wouldn't want to call it a netbook either, as it ...
Sony Uncovers the World's Lightest 8-inch VAIO P Netbook
techPowerUp! —
Sony today took the wraps off of the world's lightest 8-inch notebook- the new VAIO P Series Lifestyle PC. About the size of a business envelope and roughly as thin as a cell phone, the VAIO Lifestyle PC weighs just 1.4 pounds and is small enough to slip into a jacket pocket or handbag while integrating full-PC features. We already know a little something for VAIO P, but let's do the specs again. It's little, but has a high-resolution, 1600x768, LED backlit 8-inch ultra-wide display with Sony's XBRITE-ECO LCD technology. The foundation of VAIO P is its Intel Atom 1.33GHz processor, 2x1GB DDR2 memory, and a 60GB HDD or up to 128GB worth of SSD storage. The VAIO P also has built-in WAN 3G, Atheros 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, ...
Sony (Finally) Unveils Its VAIO P Series
Tech-Ex —
Multiple leaks, multiple teasers, and finally at CES on Wednesday Sony announced the P-series Lifestyle PC. They are calling this a notebook, and not a netbook, despite the obvious similarities. I am, however, not sure that this laptop fulfills Sony's promise to "change the way you look at laptops. Forever." First off, most of the leaked information, including, if you recall, a leak from Sony's own online store itself, was correct. The leaked images were correct, as well. We just have the details from the horse's mouth now. Specifications: 1.4 lbs (with standard battery and SSD) 10.99"(W) x 0.93"(H) x 7.87"(D) 1.33Ghz Intel CPU 8" ...
Sony Shows Off 1.4-pound Vaio "Netbook"
Maximum PC —
In our recent roundup of netbooks, we dubbed these little PCs to be a “great second computer” but a “pathetic first one.” At CES 2009, Sony’s introduction of the new Vaio P has turned some heads about the full potential of this so-called netbook-in-disguise. Weighing in at only 1.4 pounds and measuring in at just under an inch thick, this little guy packs an 8-inch widescreen with a 2.08:1 aspect ratio and a supported resolution of up to 1600x768. Inside the Vaio P you will find a 1.33GHz Atom processor, 2GB of ram and a SSD drive ranging from 64GB to 128GB of storage space. Built-in is wireless WAN 3G (Verizon Only), 802.11 Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. The P’s instant-on OS allows for quick access to the Sony’s Xross Media bar ...
Sony Vaio P 2 Comes This October.
I4U News —
... hasn't been an overwhelming seller. Part of that may be due to the annoying 90 second boot time, but a lot of it is probably because of the $1000+ price tag. That's a ridiculous amount to charge for what amounts to an extra-tiny netbook. You could buy two or three Asus or HP machines for the cost of the P, and you wouldn't lose out any on performance. Of course, performance is valued differently by different people. The Vaio P is a gorgeous little netbook, and it's just about small enough to fit into cargo pants. It's extra portable, and it's pretty enough to show off to all ...
