That'd give most of the benefit of putting the drive completely to sleep, but would avoid the several-second wait for the drive to spin up again when you wanted to use it. What a great idea! Unfortunately, that's not actually what the drive does. Apparently it's just a constant-5400RPM drive, like the less-impressively-described Samsung HD103UI.
